A New 3 Card Daily Spread: Reflections Spread

Deck: Victorian Regina Tarot

This has been the week of trying new daily spreads! I do my readings at night, right before bedtime. My original intent was to use a 3 card spread I discovered on Aeclectic, but when I looked it up this morning, it appears that I made up my own spread last night. That’s the beauty of Tarot; you can use what works best for you. This is what I came up with:

Reflections Spread

(Left) What can I take from the day?
(Center) What can I take into tomorrow?
(Right) What can I take from today into tomorrow?

The last card helps clarify how you can take the experience from the day into tomorrow. It’s a summary card in many ways, but also takes into account what the focus was for today (position 1) and the focus for the tomorrow (position 2).

My 2 Card Spread (Focus; Solution): On Guard and Seeking to Enjoy the Rewards of Life

Deck: (Top) The Victorian Romantic Tarot; (Bottom) The Bohemian Gothic Tarot

Has it really been three weeks since my last post? So far, this year has been off to a busy start. After a busy work week and preparing to go away, going away and then coming back and getting things back up to speed, I feel like I lost track of time! Needless to stay, I am ready to get things back on track with this blog. Posting three times a week (under normal conditions!) isn’t too much to ask of myself.

Whilst I have not been blogging, I have still been doing daily draws. Single card draws for reflections work well, and I like the simplicity of three card spreads (past – present – future or the like). However, I have become quite fond of two card spreads as well. Clear and to the point, they offer a concise way to do a assist in clarifying the issue depicted in the first card drawn. Sometimes, less is better!

Shuffling the Deck of Life: King of Pentacles – Security

Tarot Card of the Day – December 26, 2009

Deck: Morgan-Greer Tarot

Element: Earth
Associations: Possessions; financial growth; status

The King of Pentacles was an interesting card to pull after Christmas. Although the court cards in Tarot can stand for a specific gender, they are also universal. Since my daily draws for this blog are specifically on what I should focus on, when interpreting this card, I can see how it can be associated with myself or other people in my life.

The colors in the share a similar connection and are all strong colors: yellow/gold represents strength, growth and health; green reminds us of the connection to nature, fertility; purple denotes victory and power. The King stares forward. His skin color is gold and a gold helmet crowns his head. Purple horns adorn the sides of the helmet, a metaphor for victory and his connection with primal instinct and nature. He is dressed in a green robe, decorated with ivy and grapes, symbolic of fruition and abundance. He holds a staff in his left hand and a pentacle in his right indicating that he holds his ground both consciously and unconsciously. Everything is balanced in this card.

Tarot Card of the Day – November 27, 2009: 9 of Pentacles

And so the 9 of Pentacles begs to be noticed yet again. Aside from being my single draw last week, and my outcome card of a 3 card spread earlier this week, the 9 of Pentacles was begging me to take notice today as well. In addition to being a “Jumper” and falling out of the deck when I was shuffling, it also came up as my card of the day. And, both times it came up in the reversed position indicating that there may be some sort of blockage here. In this case, I read it as missing the signs or ignoring the message.

Shuffling the Deck of Life: Goals, Seeking to Retreat, and The Reward

Three Card Spread – November 23, 2009:

Deck: Morgan-Greer Tarot

Cards: 9 of Pentacles; 4 of Swords; 2 of Rods (Wands)

11-23-09-morgan-greer-tarot

I drew the 9 of Pentacles last Monday. However this week, shows that the card needed further clarification or is calling out to be noticed. In this three card spread, the path to enjoy the fruits of labor, is laid out quite clearly.

Pentacles is indeed the focus and the outcome of this spread when I view all of the cards together. The 2 of Rods (Wands) shows the desire to seek for more. The man holds his wand in his left hand, denoting action, and an orb in his right hand, symbolic of his unconscious desires. His shield is decorated ornately with red roses and lilies, symbolic of his passion and will to grow. A comrade holds the other wand.

Shuffling the Deck of Life: 9 of Pentacles and Prosperity – The Hoi Palloi Tarot

Tarot Card of the Day – November 16, 2009: 9 of Pentacles

Deck: Hoi Palloi Tarot

hoi-palloi-tarot-9-pentacles

Element: Earth
Associations: Possessions; financial growth; status

This card represent being able to celebrate and enjoy the fruits of labor. There is much to be thankful for and it’s time to enjoy the benefits of hard work. The grapes in the vineyard symbolize growth and maturation and are analogous to success in life. You can be both the giver and the receiver of the bounty. Now is a time of prosperity.

The bird on her hand shows a connection to the earth and being in tune with her surroundings. The bird sits on her left hand denoting action and conscious thought.

Reversed meaning:

I pulled this card in the reversed position. I am still undecided on how I feel with reading reversed meanings on their own, or if I would like to include them as part of the overall interpretation. Regardless…

Shuffling the Deck of Life: Tarot Card of the Day – Ace of Pentacles

Tarot Card of the Day – September 10, 2009: Ace of Pentacles

Deck: The Rider Tarot

Element: Earth
Associations:
Possessions; financial growth; status

Pentacles represent wealth in life, which can be events, circumstances and also financial. The bounty is yours, according to the Ace of Pentacles. As with all of the Ace cards in each suit, a white haloed hand is delivering us a large Pentacle out of the clouds; since it is at the left, it represents conscious action.

The landscape in the card is lush with beautiful flowers and an archway that leads down a path with an ice capped mountain in the distance. The grass may be green on this side, but there is even more potential that needs to be discovered. Aces represent the beginning, and like the white lilies in the picture, the time is new, pure, untainted and we have the power within to reach our highest goals.

Shuffling the Deck of Life: Tarot Card of the Day – 9 of Pentacles

Tarot Card of the Day – August 30, 2009: 9 of Pentacles

Deck: The Rider Tarot

9-pentacles-rider-waite

Element: Earth
Associations: Possessions; financial growth; status

This is my first single card drawing in a few weeks. Yesterday, I found myself drawn to the Queen of Wands and selected it as a guide through difficult times. And, today, as if to confirm my state of mind, I drew a strong female card in my single card drawing for today: 9 of Pentacles.

Pentacles represent earthly and material gains, and the woman in this card is healthy, strong and full of warmth and passion as shown in the colors which dominate the card: yellow and red. Pomegranates, which are symbolic of fertility and are the fruit of the underworld, embody the cycle of life. She is content on all emotional levels and happy with both her material and natural surroundings, as represented by the lush landscape and the bird which sits relaxed on her right hand, which represents the unconscious.

Shuffling the Deck of Life: Tarot Card of the Day – 5 of Pentacles

Tarot Card of the Day – July 14, 2009: 5 of Pentacles

Deck: Universal Waite Tarot

5-pentacles-universal-waite

Element: Earth
Associations: Possessions; financial growth; status

A sense of sadness settles in when viewing this card. I can’t help but feel inner despair attempting to take over all positive thoughts.

It’s snowing in this card, and there are two people trudging through the the icy cold weather. One would assume that they are of a less fortunate class by the looks of their tattered, worn clothing. The woman grabs her shawl around her freezing body and looks down towards the ground–her bare feet seeming to barely move. The man has a broken leg and is limping along with crutches.

Above them is a large stained glass window from a church or place of worship–symbolizing faith, spirituality and hope. He gazes at it. His expression seems to ask, why is this happening to me? The woman barely notices it.
