Shuffling the Deck of Life: Tarot Card of the Day – 8 of Cups
Tarot Card of the Day – September 9, 2009: 8 of Cups
Deck: The Rider Tarot

Element: Water
Associations: Emotions; feelings; relationships
This is my second day in a row of drawing a card with an 8 in it. I am familiar with the number 8; it is the symbol of the leminiscate which is symbolic of infinity, representing eternity and balance.
There are eight cups stacked in the front of a rugged landscape. They are stacked neatly in a group of five and a group of three. The man depicted in the card has everything that he needs right here, and his life is balanced, but he is searching for something else. He is setting of on a journey and is climbing up a jagged edge of rocky terrain and heading out into the dry wilderness. A body of water, representing emotion–the element of the suit of Cups–is surrounded by large boulders, which represent the obstacles that may be faced. There are no clouds in the sky; only a full moon partially eclipsed by a half moon. This must represent the mysterious part of the journey.
