This is my initial interpretation of The Star card.

Tarot Deck: Universal Waite Tarot

The Star is often a a favorite once it is discovered. The tranquil and peaceful atmosphere is both soothing and relaxing. My first interpretations of The Star have already been written on this blog and include a post on cards I was most drawn to and a Tarot Card of the Day post.

A naked woman is kneeling with her left foot on a lush green meadow and her right foot is atop a pool of water, and is pouring water out of two red jugs, which denote passion in life. The symbolism of left and right applies here: the action of kneeling is a conscious effort and her foot standing, as is pouring water onto the land from the pool of water. Standing on water and pouring water into water represents actions that are unconsciously controlled and occur within the power of the mind. By pouring the water from the pool into the land, she is providing the land with the source for growth, symbolic of new beginnings and new life.

Shuffling the Deck of Life: Tarot Card of the Day – The Star

Tarot Card of the Day – July 16, 2009: The Star

Deck: Universal Waite Tarot

Technically, I initially drew the Death Tarot card. But, since I wasn’t paying attention and left a card out of the deck accidentally, I reshuffled.

The Star Tarot card is symbolic of new a new beginning. Now that I have some more background about the card than I did when I write my initial post about it, I can delve into some other observations about its meaning.

This Tarot card follows The Tower, and therefore trumps it. It is the first of the last set of Tarot cards in the Major Arcana that lead to the pentacle point of divine wisdom and truth.

Beginnings: 3 of Swords and The Star, the Two Tarot Cards I am Drawn To

These were the two cards I was drawn to: 3 of Swords and The Star (key XVII – 17).

I don’t know why I picked two, as opposed to one, or even three. It was the first number that came to mind: an even number; a balanced number. This was also the order that I selected them in. There’s a reason for that. I went through the entire deck first, and then went back and selected the cards for this exercise. Although The Star appeared first along with the other Major Arcana cards, I was drawn to them in this order.

Many people like The Star Tarot card. It gleams of positivity. As for the 3 of Swords, not so much.
