On Why I Needed a Blogging Break…

Has it Really Been a Month? Really, a month? Well, almost. I haven’t posted an entry on here since March 2nd. That entry was an odd one of sorts as well. I sold that deck. Then, I needed a break. It happens.

Over the course of the past few months, I have been building my Tarot collection, finding myself in readings, and new and interesting ways to incorporate Tarot into my life. However, none of the learning and discovery has been mentioned here as  of late. I’ve struggled with the voice of this blog. Do I want it it to be a depository for daily readings and reflections? Or, do I want to use a private print journal? Do I want to post the newest decks I have discovered or my latest finds and purchases, even if they aren’t new, mass market or well known? Do I want to post random observations?

The answer is yes to all of the above.

I’ll be making some changes to what I post here, and it may not be as structured in the past, but it won’t be fragmented, promise. I’ve developed as a reader and as a budding collector, and I still like to write about it. I just needed some space for a while…

Happy reading! On that note. I bid this blog goodnight. The Tarot of the Crone awaits.

Just tapping into my inner Chariot.

    Hey Aurarcana,

I’m looking forward to these changes :)

Blogs are funny things, aren’t they? I see so many where the blogger has started their blog with a flurry of energy and activity, and then gradually you see this beginning to slow down and the energy wanes.

I say, have a break and restore your energy once again! You’ll come back totally renewed and refreshed, ready to head in a new direction :-)

Wouldn’t it be wonderful, too, if there were a pool of Tarot bloggers who could all work together on one Tarot blog, bringing to it different ideas, perspectives and renewed energy? What do you think?!

    Hi there everyone,

These comments have warmed my heart.

I really needed the break and since this blog is an outlet for me–a place where I could write and share ideas, and even possibly vent at times. I did not want to force myself to put up posts on daily draws, or mundane Tarot Card of the Day/Week posts. Once I found myself struggling, I had to sit back and reevaluate things.

Part of the problem was that I started to buy too many decks and an odd thing happened; I started to lack focus! That’s a whole post on its own.

The good news: I found one deck that I wanted to work with exclusively, at least for now and for the foreseeable future. I still have my favorites reading decks (The Hoi Palloi and Morgan-Greer), but I never worked with one exclusively. I am giving the The Tarot of Trees a chance. It’s a unique deck, in that it contains no people or esoteric symbolism. Instead, the connection is organic and natural.

I want to read with my decks, and sometimes, I am not going to want to post something about a reading. It feels wonderful to admit that, and I feel stronger in the end.

So, I am back :) . Posting resumes soon. This blogger has a lot to discuss!

Biddy, that seems like a great idea, and I bet many would be interested in working on something like that. Let’s chat.

Helen, and Doug, thank you so much for stopping by. Funny, even though I stopped posting during these past two months, people still came back and read the content here. I thank you all.

Hi, Nicole, I’m so looking forward to following your blog’s new direction! You’re so wise to have given yourself the breathing space you needed to regain your focus. The Tarot of the Trees deck sounds fascinating…I’ve never seen it before…

    Bright Blessings,

    Trenda

Hi aurarcana. I’m in the same page with you. I haven’t updated my blog for quite some time now. But I will soon. I bought so much decks too and I lost focus. I got overwhelmed I guess, so I’m taking a breather too.

I hear ya! I had a blog suck problem when I was finishing up the Lenormand. I think I took about four months off and now I’m struggling to make a come-back! :)

I understand where you are at. I go around and around on where to focus my tarot blog.

I like how you have this set up. I will have to come back later when I have more time and explore some more.

I went to your collection tab and o my goodness. Do you really own all those decks? That’s quite a collection.

Hey there. I went through this on my own blog. Just felt like a chore and there was no magic in it. I actually did a reading for myself that told me to stop separating my lives out and bring them all together. :) My blog is still mostly Tarot but it was very freeing to allow myself to post about geese and yarn and other things in my life. :)
