Happy New Year: Number 5, Number 5, Number 5 & Fool’s Gold

Happy New Year! Out with the old, in with the new! It’s 2010 and while I steer away from New Year’s resolutions, I do see the benefits of setting a general tone for the year.

The Tarot Lady wrote a fun blog post with a formula to find your number for the year using numerology based on the month and day you were born in and the current year. The creative part? Well, that involves music and thinking about how certain songs evoke emotions in all of us.

Let’s get started!

By using Chris Delorey’s Creative Numerology site, you can follow the formula for “Your Yearly Forecast”:

My birthday: December 8
Month = 12
Day = 8
Year = 2010

To find your number, add all of the numbers up as single digits and then reduce that sum even further into a single digit.

Here’s mine:

1+ 2+8+2+0+1+0 = 14
Reduce 14 = 1+4=5
Using this formula, my number for the year is 5.

According to her web site, number 5 represents, “a journey of change, freedom, new experience, and learning from mistakes.”

“You now stand at the halfway point of an entire nine-year cycle of your life. The first four years are behind you. The last four are yet to come. The events of this ‘middle’ year will enable you to know the difference between the old you, the present you, and the potential you. Expect a substantial change in your life, or a sequence of smaller changes that will lead not only to a whole new way of life, but also a completely new understanding of life itself.”

I chose my song prior to knowing that number and even drew a 5 as a last daily card for 2009. How oddly fitting.

And, that song is ‘Fool’s Gold’ by The Stone Roses. It represents the past by having that element of nostalgia as it is one of my favorite songs, freedom, potential recklessness at times, but also learning from one’s mistakes.

Fools Gold by The Stone Roses

The gold road’s sure a long road
Winds on through the hills for fifteen days
The pack on my back is aching
The straps seem to cut me like a knife

The gold road’s sure a long road
Winds on through the hills for fifteen days
The pack on my back is aching
The straps seem to cut me like a knife

I’m no clown I won’t back down
I don’t need you to tell me what’s going down
Down down down down da down down down
Down down down down da down down down

I’m standing alone
I’m watching you all
I’m seeing you sinking
I’m standing alone
You’re weighing the gold
I’m watching you sinking
Fool’s gold

These boots were made for walking
The Marquis de Sade don’t wear no boots like these
Gold’s just around the corner
Breakdown’s coming up round the bend

Sometimes you have to try to get along dear
I know the truth and I know what you’re thinking

Down down down down da down down down

I’m standing alone
I’m watching you all
I’m seeing you sinking
I’m standing alone
You’re weighing the gold
I’m watching you sinking
Fool’s gold

Fool’s gold

I’m standing alone
I’m watching you all
I’m seeing you sinking
I’m standing alone
You’re weighing the gold
I’m watching you sinking
Fool’s gold

If you had to chose one song to set the tone for the year, which one would it be? Would that song inspire you, help you think about where things are and where they might be going?

I have to tell you that Fool’s Gold by The Stone Roses has been an all time favorite of mine for many years! SO glad you’re enjoying the numerology, and I wish you a wonderful 5 Year adventure.
    Love,
    Christine
