Shuffling the Deck of Life: The Moon on the Full Moon
Tarot Card of the Day – November 2, 2009: The Moon
Deck: The Fairy Tale Tarot

The Moon in the Fairy Tale Tarot is based on the story, “Sleeping Beauty“.
Sleeping Beauty is sound asleep on her bed, her unruly gold locks surrounding her head. Her gown and bed sheets are white, denoting innocence and purity and accented with gold, symbolic of inner strength. A black cat snuggles by her feet. In Folklore, black cats have always been associated with mystery and the unknown. Above her head is a picture with a castle surrounded by a meadow and and water off the coast. The castle represents home and comfort, the water indicates the flow of unconscious thoughts and the meadow denotes growth and the environment. There is also a large ice-capped mountain terrain in the background, symbolic of high spiritual goals.
A full moon glows outside of her open window like an orb and a vine flows inside from out. And, tonight marks the Full Moon for November…
Via Wikipedia:
Full Moons are traditionally associated with temporal insomnia, insanity (hence the terms lunacy and lunatic) and various “magical phenomena” such as lycanthropy. Psychologists, however, have found that there is no strong evidence for effects on human behavior around the time of a full moon. They find that studies are generally not consistent, with some showing a positive effect and others showing a negative effect.
The November Full Moon is known as the Hunter’s Moon (English), the Beaver Moon (Native American) and the Frost Moon and Snow Moon among others.
Via the Farmers’ Almanac, the Full Beaver Moon “was the time to set beaver traps before the swamps froze, to ensure a supply of warm winter furs. Another interpretation suggests that the name Full Beaver Moon comes from the fact that the beavers are now actively preparing for winter. It is sometimes also referred to as the Frosty Moon”.
It is in our unconscious state of sleep that our dreams unfold and paint a landscape of images that sometimes appear to have no rhyme or reason, but in actuality, the mind is unlocking the psyche. By drawing The Moon on the day of an actual Full Moon, I will be open to all discoveries and mysteries as they unfold. In a way, the Full Moon represents harvesting in many ways; this is a time of spiritual awakening, both natural and nocturnal.
