Tarot Card of the Day – July 13, 2009: 2 of  Swords

Deck: Universal Waite Tarot

2-swords-universal-waite

Element: Air
Associations: Thought processes; conflict

A woman is literally blind to what is going on around her and appears to be on guard, protecting herself from her emotions.

She is sitting  stoically on a stone seat in front of a large body of water, symbolic of the sea of emotions. And, is blindfolded, holding two swords that are crossed in front of her chest.

There are rough waters and one giant cloud behind her, representing her current emotional state. But, the surrounding sky is blue; there is hope, as depicted by the small crescent moon in the corner of the picture.

Her white gown symbolizes purity, innocence and clarity. However, the opposing symbolism in this card represents the imbalance of the current state of affairs.

There are multiple meanings for this card:

  • She is avoiding the present because she is unsure about how to deal with these issues.
  • Perhaps the issues don’t even exist. There may be inner conflicts that need to be resolved.

If you are passive and let these unsure feelings take over, you will never be able to see the possibilities of a clear outcome. Or, you may have convinced yourself that you should be worried, when in actuality, there may be an inner conflict that needs to be resolved. It’s important to trust yourself and be strong. If you are confident, you can confront the problems at hand and overcome them!

This is a card that must be a warning. I will keep my mind clear of muddled thoughts and will trust my intuition in regards to my emotional well being.
